I have a lot of favorite turquoise varieties, but Turquoise Mountain is at the top of the list.

The Turquoise Mountain mine is a historic deposit located in the Cerbat Mountains near Kingman Arizona. It is operated historically and currently under the Colbaugh Processing Inc. family operations (currently managed by Marty and Josh Colbaugh). The same owners as the Kingman turquoise mine.

Native Americans originally worked deposits in the area centuries ago. Modern commercial mining began in the late 19th century. Peak production for this specific peak occurred during the 1960s and 1970s before closing temporarily, though intermittent mining has since resumed.

A rare and famous variation showing light blue areas circled with darker blue matrix resembling a bird's eye is my favorite.
